Turn Off Visibility of Diameter Dimension Extension Line

I searched the forum and found a couple of discussions regarding the subject in 2009. It's 2012 and I have the same request (see attached). I haven't found a setting in the dim style or the RMB options to turn off the extension line. I saw the posts showing drawing a sketch in the view but come on, all that to just turn off the line?

Thanks.

Pete

I agree!  This is a significant shortcoming in the drawing manger.  Your illustration shows it very well.

Pete,

What happens if you rotate the diameter dimensin around.  Does the extention shorten and almost disapear?

It's just going to go the other way.

I just submitted this to the Autodesk product comment site (otherwise known as the wishlist).  I'd encourage others to do the same.  I asked for the ability to control visibility and attachment point of diameter dimension extension arcs.

Ok, thanks. I'll go there and submit the request.

Has a resolution been found for this?  I couldn't find anything in the service pack or hotfix readme's.

Thanks

A good workaround is to

1) Sketch a circle on the view and constrain it.

2) Close the sketch

3) Dimension the circle.

4) Open the sketch

5) Select the circle and set as "sketch only"

But a programmed solution would definitely be better.

This is what works for me:

Make a new dimension style for that dimension, and under the Display tab, increase the value for B (Origin Offset). Different diameters will require different values for B, and you have to keep adjusting until you find the right value. The larger the diameter, the greater the B value needs to be.

This works, but is NOT the ideal way for doing it. Hoping that Autodesk will still incorporate this option in the settings.

Making the B value to be 2/3 of the diameter seems to work well.

Ignore my last post. 2/3 of the diameter only works for around 20" diameter. For approx. 2" diameter, I had to use 4 times the diameter.
