Trim to frame issue!

I am trying to trim a flat bar with an inner I-beam face. But got below error message. I also tried to trim/extend command but same error. I know I could generate custom profile but wants to save time since it is only a flat bar. Size for the bar is 1/2" thk x 2.79" x 5.42" lg. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Through the message and the image I realize that nothing intersects.

You are selecting the correct faces?

It does intersect, bar original size is 5.5" and length between the I beam inside face is 5.42". So there is 0.08" interferance.

What version of Inventor?

Can upload example here? Or just these two beams?

I am using Inventor 2012 professional. Below is the screenshot showing interferance in red. Also notch command does the trick but next issue is I want to put chamfer to inside edge of the plate but notch creates fillet as I beam has fillet inside. So able to get one thing but then loosing another thing.
