For light-duty, and maybe medium-duty, it will probably be fine. I don't know the specs for it like CPU, RAM, etc, but I'm mainly going by the GeForce video card.... If it had a Quadro-based card, I'd confidently say it would work great. IMO, the video card is THE MOST important part. Next is RAM and CPU.

We've got a Dell Precision M60 that's a Pentium 1.7ghz "M". But, it's also got 1gb RAM and a 128mb Quadro FX Go1000 video card.

Hi,

a short advice from germany.

Yesterday I tried to install AIS10 on
TOSHIBA Qosmio G10-124/PM 745; there´s a NVidia GeForce FX Go5700 - AGP 4x inside, this card is not listed on
http://www.inventor-certified.com/graphics/search.php?full=ON&limited=ON&XP=ON&2K=ON&NT=&PCIe=ON&AGP=ON&PCI=&inventorVersion=R10.0

The installation was OK, but afterwards I wasn´t able to start Inventor.

So, please look at this website to verify, if your card ist certificated.

Ciao, mijadukd

The GeForce Go cards will start to suffer big time once you open about 10-15
windows. Even if you close them to only keep 1 or 2 open at a time after
several windows you will need to reboot Inventor from time to time. I know
because I have this same laptop...

I'd try to find a laptop with a Quadro card.

Also check the Dell refurbished site for M60s. They can be had for as low
as $1500.

Thanks Sean

I am currently using dual ACPI Multiprocessor PC
at 2,6 GHz, 2 GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro FX 2000
MB. It is fastest PC in the area.

In comparisson with Dell M60 or M70 with best configuration, where it would
be?

For a comparison of IV10 performance check out this
http://www.inventor-certified.com/graphics/SV10_Puiblic_by_time.pdf

Its in order of total time to complete the test, as you can see the Dell M70
is quite high up in that list.

Ok
Let me re-phrase my question.
I know Dell makes laptops with Quadro cards.
Who else makes laptops with Quadro?
Thank you

Hi Germany. I have a laptop with your same Nvidia GeForce FX Go 5700. I had the same problem with IV10. It installed, It would open, and as soon as I attempted to open or create a file it would DISAPPEAR!!!.. No message or anything. It would work going to the generic Windows driver, but it would be slower and parts disappeared temporarily while rotating assemblies. I found in this NG a website www.guru3d.com that has a driver for that card, 75.90, and it seems to work. I can open fairly complex assemblies and rotate them without a problem.
My laptop is an HP Pavilion, 1 GB Ram, 3.2 GHz, the Nvidia card has 128 MB of memory.
Hope it helps.

The Alienware, Boxx, Voodoo, Hypersonic and Azken Muga all use the same
case and 17" LCD. A unit comparably configured to the Alienware I
bought about a month ago, from Boxx is +$500 USD, the Hypersonic is
+$700 USD, and the Voodoo is +$1200 USD. The Azken Muga doesn't offer
the 7200 RPM harddrives, so I didn't price it out.

Hi Neil:

Sorry I did not check the site in a few days. The driver can be downloaded from:

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1002

I also downloaded a driver cleaner from

http://drivercleaner.net

Go to the bottom of the page, and choose DOWNLOAD and followed the instructions. They worked for me.

Good luck from Oregon.
