Text won't appear on my Idw files

I am using Autodesk Inventor Series 10. I have had recent problems adding text to my files. When I open up new files, I cannot add new text nor general notes. When I open old files the text and general notes I had drawn still appear; however I cannot add new text nor general notes.

In both situations (new files and old files), the "Undo" command recognizes that I had made a general note even though the note did not appear. In both situation, the "Undo" command fails to recognize that I had attempted to add text.

I have tried various solutions: This includes making sure all my layers are on, Trying different text styles, and looking in the database to see if anyone else had this problem.

Any help is appreciated.

>I have tried various solutions:

Have you tried installing all Service Packs and Hotfixes?
Have you tried searching Google on Autodesk Inventor text?

I tried the patch that was recommended. It reads "This Hotfix could not be installed because it is not designed for the version of Autodesk Inventor 10 that is installed on your computer." The "About Autodesk Inventor" tab says that I am running Autodesk Inventor 10 Release 10 Build 211m.

Also, I am running Windows XP pro. Do I have the wrong patch or is my problem something completly different that this?

In addition to the response provided by the other fellow, I shall try your suggestions with checking on google and so forth.

what service pack are you up to? I believe Inventor 10 went up to SP3a.

You might need all service packs installed before installing that
hotfix.

They have to be installed sequentially. Look in Help >
About Inventor for the latest installed SP.

I'll try to make this as simple as possible.

In Inventor, go to your Help menu, then select "About Autodesk Inventor"

On the next screen you should see what build, Release and SP (Service
Packs, if any)

If you see "10 SP3a" then that means you are up to Service Pack 3a. If
you see something other than SP3a (none listed or SP1 or 2) then you
should install the Service Packs.

All of the SP's will have to be installed in the order they were
released. In other words, in order to install SP2, you will need SP1
installed first.

Depending on what "About Autodesk Inventor" displayed to you as
installed SP's, follow the links below as needed to obtain and install
any SP's you are missing.

link to Inventor 10 Series SP1 (Inventor10_ais_SP1.exe)
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=5596411&linkID=9242019
There is a "Readme" file/link on that page that will tell you how to
install it.

link to Inventor 10 Series SP2 (Inventor10_ais_SP2.exe)
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=5973751&linkID=9242019
Same thing with a "Readme" file/link here...

link to Inventor 10 Series SP3a (Inventor10_ais_SP3a.exe)
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=6418565&linkID=9242019
Same thing with a "Readme" file/link...

After you've made sure you are up to SP3a, try to install/apply that
hotfix once more.
