Im using Inventor 2013 and im trying to make a tapered coil but instead of creating it with a liner taper i want a curved taper. Is there a way to create this (prehaps using guide curves like loft feature?)
Im new to inventor but have been using solidworks for a while any help would be appreciated.

this is an old technique used on other software but works. 3D sketch a helix, 2D sketch a profile shape, surface sweep a line and project the intersect for your new path.

yes, and i have even used the taper bit of that but the problem i have is that it creates a taper that comes out at an exact angle from the origin in a straight line. I need the taper to come out and taper along a curve.
another way of saying it would be that it tapers at 10deg which then gradually decreases to 5deg as the spiral increases.This would create a shape like a flower bud or light bulb.
I will have a go at this later and see if i can get it to work will report back

Ok heres what im trying to create and a how far a can get. Notice how the end tapers out? i want to create that but with much more of curved taper
Im able to create the surface revolve then create a revolved solid but i cant get any of the componants to line up, for example the helix is allways wonky and wont snap to an axis? Also dont understand "3D intersection"
