Taper extrude problem

Hi Guys,

I have created a taper of 45deg after extruding it of 15mm. When i mesure the angle of the side it is saying "46.43 deg".

I don t understand that. Is there something that i am missing?

I have attached a screenshot and the file.

Thanks for the help (i am new 1week old new on inventor)

Measures correctly here.
Have you installed Service Pack 1?

I'm on my phone so I didn't open the ipt file but from the picture it looks like you are measuring the compound angle not the angle normal to the faces. If you select the proper faces I suspect you'll get the 45 you're after.

You are indeed measuring the compond angle. If you mease as posted the face of the chamfer with your top or bottom face you will indeed get 45 degrees.

Hi guys,

thanks for your replies. I still cannot resolve my issue.

Blair, are you meaning that if i extrude of 15mm and then set the taper at 45deg, the "compond angle" (= the one i am mesuring in the jpg) isn t going to be of 45deg.

If this is true, what should i do to extrude a rectangle of 15mm and then have the 3 compond angles at 45deg ?

thanks for your help guys, i have spend a few hours trying to fix this...

First, the Chamfer/Taper angle is the face of the sides, not the corner angle.

Second, you are measuring the corner to the base edge.

Try measuring the corner Edge to either the top face or the bottom face.

And really what are you trying to accomplish (what do you want), Chamfer/Loft is a face measurement to a face.

Do you want the sides to be 45 degrees. The measurement you are making in your picture is a most unusual way to measure.
