TEXT STYLE !!!

In the standard>sheet text style, I set the text size .125. However, when I
add the text or leader text, the default is .250. How I set the default to
be .125
Thx

I didin't even see a Sheet Text Style box in Format>Standards. Try looking in Format>Dimension Styles or Format>Text Styles.

Set up a text style with a text size of .125.
Go to Format Dimension Styles and create a new dimension style.
go to the Text tab and change the text style to the one you just created.
Save the dimension style
Go to Standards and in the Dimension Style tab change your default dimension
style to the one you just created.

The Sheet Text style will only work for things like notes, leader, and weld
symbols, you need to set up a dimension style to a text style first.

I've already done all of these steps. Dimension text is working fine. When I
want to add a text or leader text, The default is .25. In the Text Style,
I have three diff. sizes: .125,.156,.25. I want to set .125 as default ( no
option for this)

When you set the text style in the Format Text Style dialog, it will not
automatically default to the one you have selected in you sheet tab of
Format Standards. To get your default text to stick go to Format Text
Styles, pick the style you want to be the default, edit one of the values,
save, then edit it back to the way you want it. Just picking it has never
worked for me.

Chris,

There are two ways you can set the "active" text style for Text and Leader
Text objects. This is also true for text created in a drawing sketch called
Text and Property Field.

1. When you start the command, you can select the text style you want for
your Text or Leader Text object by selecting it in the Styles combo box on
the tool bar.

2. The act of creating a new text style or editing an existing text style
makes it the "active" text style for Text and Leader Text objects.

The Sheet Text Style is used by objects that do not have a text style. For
example, Surface Texture Symbol, Feature Control Frame, etc. Dimension
Styles, which also have a Text Style, are only used by dimension objects,
such as, any of the General Dimensions, Baseline, and both Ordinate
Dimensions objects, etc. There are other objects that have Text Styles.
You can find them by looking in the various tabs on the Drafting Standards
dialog.

Hope this helps...

Diane,
Your method works for ONE TIME only. Then everytime I add a text or leader
text, I have to select the text style again and again. In my .idw template,
I have 4 diff. text styles for B (.125), C (.156),D(.200) and E(.25) sheets.
.200 is a default one, then when I have a drawing in B-size, I have the
change the text size to .125 everytime I add a text. Dave seems to have a
trick for this problem.

Chris,

You are correct if you change the Text Style in the Style combo box of the
Format Text dialog. However, if you start the command, but before you
select the location for your Text or Leader Text object, you change the Text
Style in the Styles combo box of the Drawing Standard tool bar, I think you
will find that it is persistent. If you have not customized your UI, the
Drawing Standard tool bar has tools like File New, Open, Select, Sketch,
Zoom All, etc. The Styles combo box is located near the Zoom and Pan tools.

Hope this clarifies what I meant in my previous message...
