Studio Reflective Gp shows cut reflection

I have a problem with Inventor 11 Studio. The reflection on the ground made by "XZ Reflective Gp" works in a way that when rendered, it shows a partial or cut reflection of my assembly, see attached .jpg file. I have not found yet where this "reflection depth" is regulated. Please help! -Marco

In studio, go to Scene Styles, select your scene, then on the Environment tab, select the Ground Plane direction and offset.

I tried that before, but as you can see in the attached .jpeg file, the problem is not the degree of reflection or the distance of the plane to the base of the object, the problem is the reflection is not shown entirely on the rendering, it is cut across the bottom of it. -Marco

...and this is also happening to the shadow, as you can see. -Marco

Hi Marco,

Could you post the part?

Does this behavior manifest in all renderings or only of this part?

Have you tried rendering using any of the other reflective planes? Do they
clip too?

When you click on the render button, does the plane appear to be full-sized?

How big is the part?

Do your results vary if you zoom out on the part? Can you get "more"
reflection/shadow to render?

a .jpeg is posted, couldn't post a 3d file (?) -Marco

It happens only on this part so far, but I only have a couple of days experience with Inventor studio, so I have done about 6 parts so far

Results don't vary when zooming in or out, the plane looks complete before rendering

can you post a pic of the screen before you render?

Marco,

Could you try inserting an extruded rectangle into the scene, assign it
a highly reflective surface style, and place it beneath your assembly?

This may be an issue with how big your assembly is in relation to the
Inventor universe. The shadow/reflection plane isn't infinite, but it
is very, very big.

I wouldn't expect to see this phenomenon unless the assembly were huge.

Thank you,

-Randy

Well, I did a new rendering with an extruded 12" rectangle, and the shadow & reflection look good. But when I removed the bar it came back to the same cut reflection. (weird). see attched files

It looks like the shadow/reflection plane is, in part, defined by the
extents of the scene geometry. Try placing any renderable geometry out
of the camera view but a good distance away from your assembly.

Couldn't or can't?

If you can then roll up the EOP, Zip and post.

I had the same issue and knew it must have had something to do with the size of the assembly. Mine was a full-size combined cycle power facility that I was rendering to an existing site image. It was just big enough that when offset to a side of the background image that the shaddows would be clipped.I will try creating a derived assembly at half-size for the scene.
