Stuck on Tutorial Exercise?

I'm working on this tutorial exercise and I have an existing extruded part. I am instructed to join another geometric extrusion to it. The last step tells me to click on the "More" tab in the extrude menu, and select the "Minimum Solution" box. The problem is the box is all greyed-out? How do I select it? Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss a step somewhere?

Start the Extrude command and press F1. The help
file explains how it works. In what you have, there probably isn't an alternate
solution so it's grayed out.
