Slice any geometry partially

Hi

I want to slice a geometry partially. But not want to divide the geometry into two parts.

I attached a photo of a part. How can i draw this geometry by using Inventor?

Thanks from now

Depends, will the cuts be a specific width, or merely hairline slits? And then how will the shop produce said slit? Will it actually need to weld together two different parts slightly machined down in one spot to create the slit? If you know the thickness of the slit, just draw its shape on the side and extrude it thru the part removing the material.

Welcome to the forum.

Just do a thin extruded cut.

Take a look at this .ipt file.  You can change the size of the block by editting Sketch 1 and Extrusion 1.  You can change the size of the cut by editting Sketch 2 and Extrusion 2.

I hope this helps.

I don't want there any gap between two cut surfaces. Only cut with zero gap.

But thank you for your interest and drawing.

Then I would create a surface plane in the location you want a simulated cut.

You can set the width of the cut in Sketch 2 to 0.000001" wide, which gives the appearance of "0 gap".  If you truly want no gap at all, then there really isn't a cut there and I think Cadmanto's idea to create a surface plane is the way to go.

I drew a rectangle and generated a surface. And tried to slice geometry partially but it did not work.

Thanks to everbody for all replies.
