Haven't posted here in awhile, but still review the site infrequently to gain knowledge and offer help whenever possible.
I have an issue with Shrinkwrap/Derive when using a Positional Rep.
I have put together a very basic example to show the problem.
Open the derived part and try to change it to the "work" positional rep.
Everything appears to work fine in the "master" rep.
I have this problem in a few of my assemblies and was able to track it down to the positional rep usage in the derived part.
I am hoping that there is someone that can lend some advice on how to get it to work correctly.
Thanks,
Larry

Unconstrained sketches and unusual use of Move Face.
I didn't look any further. Never got to the stated problem.
Perfect parts with no clearance for motion or allowance of manufacturing tolerances.

Oh Crap!
These were parts d/l from the web by another user.
I thought they were cleaned up better than that.
I'll go back through then a bit and see if the problem goes away.
Thanks, Larry
Just make a (very) simple assembly to test - I don't think any of the problems I pointed out should have a bearing on your problem statement. The only reason I pointed them out is
1. you specifically asked me to look at this thread that I was intentionally not responding to
2. because the problems I pointed out indicated to me a lack of basic training that I didn't have time to get to the heart of the problem.
Notice that others didn't respond either.
Often an indication that
3. the true problem needs more information to be understood
Make up a very simple example that exhibits the same behavior.
JD,
I agree with everything you said.
This was the simplest/easiest one that was giving me problems.
I will clean it up and see if it makes a difference and report back.
Thank you for your time.
Larry
JD,
Ok, I went back and fixed the rail and slide and as thought, it made no difference.
I did up a 'quick' block assembly and the problem still exists.
Open the shrinkwrap and try to change it to the 'work' positional rep.
There is definately an issue for Autodesk to look at.
Thanks for your time.

Noticing that it does this with any shrinkwrap made from a positional rep in an assembly.
Thanks, Larry

Seeing this frequently as trying to build assembly models.

The only one that works consistantly is to use shrinkwrap on the master rep.
Makes all of the added functionality quite worthless.
