Sheet metal Problem

Can't seem to find a sheet metal solution for this part.

Can someone help me in the right direction ?

Tried Rip & Bend and building it from face, solids etc.

I would say to use a contoured flange to get the basic shape, then add the flanges on the sides.

If you want to use what you have so far, you will have to add fillets (inside and outside) and add cuts where the flanges miter together.

Not sure how the part was made but it sounds like it was extruded not using shet metal functions.

But putting in radius is not a way to fix it.

in sheet metal there is a command called Bend use that just pick the edge you want. it will make it a bend with the sheet metal radius.

What is this you are clicking?

I dont recognize that.  I am on 2013.

When I try the Bend command, I get an error when I apply it "Failed to extend body or create space for bend".

I had never used the bend feature before to do this, but I tried it on '13 and it worked for me.

sounds like your radius may be to big or flange to small to accept radius. can you post picture of yours? When it is in preview. like my second picture.

oh also the thickness has to match the sheet metal rule you are using.

I haven't gotten around to your solution yet, but you might want to take a look at the attached file.

It looked to me like you were doing too much work.

The finished sheet metal part is not so easy.  I see lots of suggestions - but no solution files.

Thanks for your help.

I tried several "modeling" approaches until i decided to model it from surfaces.

Contour flange, Face & Fold, 3D solid & shell give (almost) the same geometry but the problem occurs when developing the flanges.

When i decide to cut and bend after solid & shell, it won't take all bends and cuts.

When i go with Face & Fold (see attachement), it won't make corner seams like it should, because there is always al little angle between the flanges. (The same with contour flange).

Regards,

Aad

I would very rarely use Fold feature.

I will try to post one solution later today.

Here's my attempt, at least the first half. Not perfect, but might be close enough after some tweaking.

I could not find a way other than face-by-face.

The attached was done in student version - so examine the technique and then delete.

Pull down the red End of Part marker step by step.

Thanks for your help, it looks ok, but JDMathers solution is more straightforward.
