Scale Text

Is there a way to write a "M" befor the Scale in a Detailview.

We must have M 1:1 and not only 1:1

Not that I'm aware of. You would have to edit the detail view, uncheck the "Show Scale" option, then edit the detail view text and manually add in the scale as you need.

Ok, It's driving me crazy.    Why
the heck must you have a "M" before the scale?

At least in our DIN standard it is like
that.

Just because I'm curious to know:

Do you use the DIN standard in Austria
too?

Michael,

We have had the ÖNORM standard, which was derived
from the DIN.

But nowadays, being member of the EU, we are
working according to the DIN, but more and more tending towards the ISO
standard.

Anyway, there was not really big difference between
ÖNORM and DIN, as well as the ISO is pretty much a wider defined
DIN.

Suppose I needn't tell you how much I'm missing the
support (I mean REALLY support) of DIN/ISO in IV?

Thanks for your explanation, Leo.

Also missing the "power" of Amberg,
he?

If the M is part of an identifiable standard, it should be sent to Autodesk
as a 'Defect'.  They seem to take things like that pretty seriously but you
will want to provide the Specification down to the chapter, section, page
and paragraph.

But what does the "M" mean?

The standard surely isn't putting it there for
window dressing, is it?

The M stands for "Maßstab" in english I think it means Scale.

To unckeck the scale box and to overwrite the scale text is not the right way, because the Text by the View is the Text from the scale Text. For example by the scale text stands
"A M 1:1" in the View stands A M 1:1 - A M 1:1.
But what i need is like this " A-A M 1:1"

I hope my english isn't so crazy. I'm german and i don't often speak english. But I improve it every time

The real answer is YES you can add
it.

Instead of editing the view label from the View
edit dialog do the following:

1. Select the label as if it were
text.

2. Right click and edit label...

3. you get the label as parameters that can't
change and you can add pre/post text to any of it.

Thanks Bill for helping.

After your message I test it and now my label shows like this

A-A M (1:1)

AFAIK: The latest issues of DIN 6 refer to ISO
128 and don't use the M anymore.

From the "Hoischen":
<german> Wortangaben, z.B. "Einzelheit" oder
"Schnitt"

sowie der Buchstabe "M" vor der Maßstabsangabe,
sollen nach ISO 128 nicht

mehr verwendet werden. </german> Drop the
"M", I think there are more important

problems with the
drawing manager.

Michael,

Nice to hear that the ISO comittee gave way to the
inability of most CAD packages to create correct drawing
annotations...<g>

Can't be this way ... the ISO comittee
needs so many years to make a decision like this,

so I think CAD wasn't invented when they started
this decision ... <vbg>
