Right Click Hot-Keys

Hi all,
I've asked this before without any reply, but because of an added irritant
in IV2010, I thought I would ask again.

In a right click menu, you have your hot keys (the underlined letter that is
the keyboard shortcut to that command instead of scrolling and selecting it
with the mouse)

The one that bothered me before was when right clicking on an assembly the
"B" hotkey was designated for both "Find in Browser" and "Bill of
Materials", so you still have to make your selection with the mouse. I
always wanted to eliminate the hotkey for "Bill of Materials" (When
selecting just a single part, it works fine, as the "Bill of Materials"
command is not there.)

I very, very rarely need that quick of access to the "Bill of Materials"
command.....I constantly use "Find In Browser"

Oh well, I got used to this and learned to deal with it.......

But now, with 2010, the "A" hotkey is duplicated too! So now if I want to
quickly turn off the adaptivity of a part, I have to deal with the duplicate
hotkey for "Add to new folder" (awesome new feature BTW!)

Isn't having multiple hotkeys in menus like this a big no-no in the
programming world?

Could anyone point me towards where I might be able to make some tweaks to
these RMB menus?

Besides little things like this, I am so far very impressed with 2010!

Thanks in advance,

Denis

I as well would love to hear Adesk chime in on this. I have raised this
issue every couple of years since probably version 6. I even suggeted they
hire summer students to do the analysyis you have done.

As you note, the menus become more populated with each release, and RMB
hotkeys get added without checking existing ones. I as well would like the
find in browser to work releaibly, since it is used constatly.

Thanks, I follow what you've done, but where do you
put this code? (I looked in various places within IV, and also the
registry).

Denis,

I would agree that having the hotkey duplicated in the menus is something to
be avoided when possible (and in this case, it seems completely possible).
I will ensure we get this corrected for a future release.

In case you are not aware, you can still use the hotkeys in these duplicated
cases:
1. RMB, press hotkey (at this point the first item with the pressed hot key
will be selected)
2. press the hotkey multiple times to rotate through the multiple hotkey
choices.
3. Press enter when the menu item you desire is selected.

However, I'm guessing that you would find this method unacceptable due to
the additional steps.

Thanks,
- Matt
