Reference Part (BOM) Viewed in Full Colour

.

This might be a wish, but I want to see if it can be done.

A component in an assembly is only there for visual representation, RMB and select BOM > Reference.

So far, so good.

Typical orthogonal projections show Reference Part as expected.

However, I also want a 3D isometric view in full colour with the Reference Part shown as it would be seen in real life.

I've tried everything unsuccessfully.

Is there a solution or do I need to post something in Idea Station ?

TIA

Nope.. Inventor has always been "broken" like that (well ever since I started using it years ago).. Every year a few people seem to stumble across it. But its never been fixed.

You may have tried this, but I'll put it out there anyway. Select view, change reference to "As Parts" and "All Bodies". It won't do color but will create solid lines.

it is the colour that I need for a representational image

I guess you could try turning the part back to "normal", have the view in the drawing update and then set that view to "defer updates" which would in a sense then lock the view.

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

If you set the default BOM represenation to Phantom, they will show up in full color, but not on the BOM. The catch is that you can't toggle between Phantom and Normal for a particular instance in an assembly.
