Reference Book for Inventor

Hi,
I am new to using inventor 7 and will like to know whats the best way to start using inventor? Is there any good books out that you can recommend me to purchase, or is there any other websites.
NB I have been using Autocad 2002 in the past.

Many thanks
Harry

Using Autodesk Inventor 6 by Ron Cheng (there isn't much difference between 6 and 7).

You can see some examples of work my students have done after using this book at:

http://www.cadenceweb.com/2003/0403/coverstory0403.html p2
http://www.autodesk.com/us/manufacturing/docs/msd_summer03_onlinemagazine.pdf
p24

Watch out for word wrap on these links.

First, I would highly recommend taking hands on training from a good
instructor. There is no way that a book can replace the skills you will
learn in a short time. Second, temporarily FORGET everything you know
about AutoCAD. It will get in the way of learning.

You did not indicate any 3D experience in the past. If you have 3D
experience, it will go a long way in learning Inventor.

Check out the Inventor FAQ's posted here by Sean Dotson for links to
websites and publications.

Good Luck!

I would estimate that about:

1% of what I know about Inventor is from a 40 hr. ATC class. (so much for single day productivity)

49% is from reading books and helping students.

50% (and increasing daily) is from this forum. Except for a few unmoderated rantings from a couple of frustrated users afraid to ask for or accept help, the signal to noise ratio at this site is excellent for learning.

Good luck. J.D.
