Is there any steps I have to take to make sure Inventor (r10 & r11) will
work (register properly) on the re-formatted hard drive?

Windows XP SP2 I assume.

1. Install the Windows service packs
2. Make yourself Local Administrator
3. Install all your software BEFORE installing Antivirus or other programs.
4. Install MS Office and run Excel before launching Inventor.
