RTTI Error

I was just wondering if anyone out the might be able to help me out? A couple of the computer in our office keep getting this same error. It occorres (what seem randomly) when editing text boxes or changing rev blocks. After getting this error (around 10 to 12 times a day) we can not change and text boxes untill we restart Inventor completely.

Thank you to anyone out there that can help.

There are several thing that could contribute to your issue. We would need more information like the steps to repeat it and is it repeatable using those step on another machine. Also which version of Inventor you are using. Below are some general steps to look into first.

1. Check to see that the files in quesiton have been migrated to the release that they are being edited with.

2. Check to see that all updates and service packs for your version of Inventor have been applied. You can get those at this link http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads#?sort=score

3. If this is happening when using the undo file ( a common occurance) you can go into your Application Options, General tab and increase the Undo file size.

Give these a try and post the result with as much informaiton and files if possible.

We are currently using Autodesk Inventor 2014. Here are the system specs:

OS Name   Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

System Manufacturer                       LENOVO

System Type                                    x64-based PC

Processor                                        Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1240 v3 @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical

Installed Physical Memory (RAM)      16.0 GB

Total Physical Memory                     15.9 GB

Available Physical Memory                12.1 GB

Total Virtual Memory                        40.8 GB

Available Virtual Memory                  36.7 GB

Page File Space                                24.9 GB

1. Check to see that the files in question have been migrated to the release that they are being edited with.

All file have been migrated or made from Autodesk Inventor 2014

2. Check to see that all updates and service packs for your version of Inventor have been applied. You can get those at this link http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads#?sort=score

                       pic 12.jpg

3. If this is happening when using the undo file (a common occurrence) you can go into your Application Options, General tab and increase the Undo file size.

This is not happening when hitting the undo button. I did increase the Undo file size on the computers but it made no difference.

                       What makes the error occur:

When opening the format text window from editing text (the error will pop up before it lets you click anything), editing the revision

table, editing the parts list, and it’s even popped up when making a Leader and Weld Symbols Text Box. It’s random, can happen in 1 minute to 1 hour after starting work on a drawing. After the error occurs inventor has to be restarted to edit any text boxes. After you restart you hope you get close to the hour time frame not the minute time frame to work.

4. Give these a try and post the result with as much information and files if possible.

This is currently doing this on 3 out of 10 computers that are running Autodesk Inventor 2014. It seems to only happen on the three computers and doesn’t matter what drawing they are working on (can not repeat on any other computers).

I have talk to the operators of the three computers and they don’t know what could be triggering it. They say it’s random.

Thanks for your help

Where are the files that the users that are having issues located. If on a network location have them mover the files local and try working on them on their local machine for the day.

If using Vault or other data management system try cleaning out the workspace and just having the files that need to be worked on in the local workspace.

We are currently using vault and I had them clear out their workspaces. I also had them restart the computers and we are still getting the RTTI error.

Just so you know since we clear out the workspaces 2 hours ago and we have had a total of 4 errors on 3 computers. All of them working on different drawings and projects.

If at all possible have one user check out to their local workspace the files they would need for the day. Then have them create a new Single User project file and work on the files for the day. I would like to know if they have the RRT issue while disconnected from vault completely.

Another check would be again with all the files local and a single user project file used have a user switch machines with another (preferably one that is having the issue and one not)  user and see what the results are.

I had them start a new project as a single user on their desktops and made sure they were not attached to vault in anyway and there are still getting the RTTI Error.  I also spent a day on one of their projects on my computer (my computer has never received the RTTI Error) and I could not depurate the error.

I think we have figured out the problem. We have a 3rd party software (Ipropwiz) that just got an update and that seems to have fixed the problem. The thing that’s bugging me is that all of our computers have Ipropwiz on them but only three were having issues. I even remember uninstalling Ipropwiz on one of them and it was still having problems. I guess I can’t look a gift horse in the mouth… I will just have to except that it’s working and be happy with it.

Thank you for all your help.
