Jeff,

I have been told that dialog should be edit to be a little more descriptive
in a future release. Now that I have it working I guess I have to look at
how I am gonna use it. It would seem the control click thingy sounds like it
would be ok. So let me get that clear..
If ECPG is off and you project a face you get pink edges which are not
associative?
IF ECPG is off and you ctrl+slect you get associative edges?

Confused, you betcha

Confused... me, too. There have been some changes with 6 and
I didn't really have a handle on cross part projection in 5, but if I
understand correctly...

With ECPG off, you cannot even select a face of another part, but only edges.
{I found your assembly odd in that respect and can only suspect it is a bug,
along with the cross part projection of silhouette edges coming up black
instead of pink (they are not associative), but let's not worry about that as
it will only confuse matters.} The projected entities should be magenta /
pink, are not associative and create no "Reference" attached to the sketch.
CTRL+Select will allow the selection of faces or edges on other parts and they
should project as black entities, be associative and create a "Reference"
nested under the sketch (the same behavior that should occur if ECPG is on).

Also, keep in mind that there are limitations with regard to the relationship
of the part being edited to the assembly. I don't remember the specifics, but
I that it's not possible to do an associative projection from a part
that is in a higher assembly or in parallel assemblies. I think of the
assembly as a tree with the trunk being the top level assembly and forking
branches being successively deeper layers of sub assemblies. Given that, it
should be possible to project from an entity that is in the same branch or
closer to a limb tip, but not the other way around. Again, I'm not that
familiar with the functionality, so may be incorrect.

Have a good one,
Jeff

Jeff, I think the posts are screwed at my end anyway, Projected faces are
now Black it appears in 6.0 Project Cut Faces are Pink still. Chuck said
go to tools document settings modelling tab Adaptivity used in Assembly. Did
you get that bit.
