Problems converting CATIA/NX *.PRT file

Having problems trying open/convert a *.PRT file.  Anything I'm missing?  Any "switches" in the OPEN/OPTIONS I may have to change other than default settings?

Version of Inventor at least...

There was some issues with Inventor 10 (not 2010) or rather with the O.S. that had problems creating a translation log and there's a known fix or bandaid for that issue.

Hi psohaney,

Thanks for your post and more information is need for investigating. What's your Inventor version ? What' you OS ? Can you give the steps for this problem ? Does it have error prompt or dialog box when open or convert ? Try to open the translation report and see what's the error.

I'm using Inventor Suite 2011 (Service Pack 2 installed).  I've attached a screen capture of the translation report.

Inventor 2011 supported reading NX Version 3 through Version 6 files.  It appears that your file is from a version newer than that.  It doesn't help you, but in Inventor 2012 we expanded our support up to NX Version 7.5.  Siemens just announced the release of NX Version 8, unfortunately because of release timings there's always a bit of a lag in supporting the latest versions of other CAD products directly.

Can the person that sent you the NX file send you a STEP file instead?

I hope this helps,

Unfortunately our customer is holding steadfast in their "you get what you get" policy.  It's our responsibility to convert or buy what they use.

We have 2012.  Have not yet installed it.  I will give that a try.

After you've installed 2012 don't forget to download and install SP1:
