Problem with Installation of IV10

My Content Center did not install. I left User can make changes to the
Content Center libraries and publish checked. Must I try an installation
from scratch or might there be a quicker fix?

If you can provide more details of the failure symptoms, we may be able
to help. Other posts might also be useful if you search for "install" in
the NG.

Note that you should be careful of which logs you post, as some actually
contain a license number (!).

There really are no more details. I did not try to use IV10 yet. When I
saw I did not have these contents, I decided to stick with nine until I find
the solution. The Ikon is not in the tool browser at all.
I am running a P4-3g with 1.5 gig of Ram. Do you think I need more ram
in general for efficient running with IV 10.
Thanks

To get to the bottom of what may be going on, we'd really need to take
a look at the installation logs. 1.5G seems like a pretty reasonable
configuration, so should be a good start, at least. It certainly is
plenty of RAM to get through an installation!

I just followed all the inputs that it asked for as it installed itself.
How do I reach the installation logs.
While I am not in anyway a computer wiz, I use inventor to design
equipment with hundreds of parts and am generally very happy with it's
workings.

The installation logs are placed into your TEMP directory. You can
usually see logs such as AIS10Install.log, MSDE_CC_Setup.log, in there.
The easiest way to get to it from Windows Explorer is to type in %TEMP%
in the address bar and hit enter (or Go).

I find nothing in the temp files that has anything to do with inventor
Can I ask you to please send me your phone number to
dave@lektralabs.com so that maybe we can figure this out. I would like to
start using IV 10 and I can't without these parts libraries.
Thanks

I'm having the same problem as well. During installation, I received errors about links to the Content Center, Parker libraries, etc. When I run Inventor, there is nothing in the Content Center.

Also, every reboot now gives me an error message that sqlmangr.exe failed to start because odbcbcp.dll was not found.

If I uninstall Inventor and attempt to reinstall, it backs out of the installation because of the missing dll.

I've uninstalled XP sp2, reinstalled MDAC (to replace the DLL), and reinstalled sp2, which fixes the DLL problem. But when I attempt to install IV10, the process starts all over again.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jason

That's one I haven't seen before. Jason, could you send me (privately,
due to potential license exposure) your AIS10Install.log, along with the
MSDE_CC_Setup.log files from a failed setup attempt?

It sounds like something environmental is getting in the way of a
successful MSDE installation.

I am having the same problems. I received the errors about the libraries and I get the "sqlmangr.exe failed to start" message on boot-up. Only on mine it says the ADBCDCP.dll file was not found. And when I'm in IV10, it closes without warning after a minute or so and prompts me to send AutoDesk and error report. This is my first experience with Inventor, so my knowledge of the program is practically zero. Please help.

Thanks,
Brandon

Hi!
I have a similar problem too. I just installed inv 10 series. I can see nothing on the content center. When I look at the content center library configuration, I see that InventorStandartContent and Parker libraries are red and it says not available. Mylibrary is black and it says read/write.
When installing, I choosed Complete and User can publish and...." options. In my "c:\program files\microsoft sql...." there are mdf files, the largest one is 1.3 GB (inventorstandartcontent.mdf).
I tried to install it on other machines, but I had the same problem. Content center says "No Content Loaded".

I'm sending a screenshot from my inv10.

Thanks,
E. Eken

Hi

Was there any solution to this problem??
Now we have a customer with the same problem

(..............SQLUNIRL.dll not found......................)

When does that error occur? By itself, that is something that can be
ignored, as the SQL Service Manager isn't really needed, but it's
possible that it is indicative of some other error that might be more
serious.

How does Inventor (including Content Center) behave on these machines?

The error message occurred for me only when i booted up. My solution was to uninstall i10 and delete Service Manager from the MSCONFIG (thru Run). I ran an update from Dell for my video card (as advised from another post here), so I will be installing i10 again shortly.

I had to uninstall dell's software (XP/Office) and load my retail versions to get everything working on my M70.

Yep ... same problem I had. Dell says their software is an exact clone of Uncle Bill's, but obviously there's a bit of dribble in that pie. Installing retail versions cleared my problems.
