have been playing with the demo version of Presenter 3D for a couple of days
with limited success. We are thinking of purchasing this product but i just
can't get a good feel for it. I was wondering if anyone out there is currently
using this product? if you are what kind of quality are you getting out of it
and are you finding it difficult to use. Any info would be great.
Thanks

have also tried the demo. Presently i use viz with vray.
-The presenter app is as others say, ackward to use.
I agree, not as smooth as working in
Inventor, but then I don't think Viz is that easy either.
-clicking in a window can cause the view to zoom to extremes to the point
you cant find your items anymore, and no "zoom extents" type function to get
them back.
There is a "reset" - look at the view
window border - upper left where it says "perspective". Click that and
you'll see a reset.
-I have yet to find a way to do 'sub object' mapping/mtl. Maybe you can add
multiple materials to different surfaces of a single object, but i havnt found
it yet.
You need to break off parts to do this -
there's an icon on the toolbar for it - Just to the left of the
paintbrush.
-The material editor is nice with many presets.
Not enough starting materials for
inventor users - there should be a wide assortment of metals and plastics to
use.
-I havnt yet got any output to be of the same quality as vray but i havnt
spent as much time with it either.
-speed wise, vray is much quicker
-service. I posted several questions on the presenter forum, over a week
ago, and no one has replied. So im not sure how quickly any technical problems
would be solved for a user.
If all else fails, email
them!
It looks neat, and may be cheaper than viz, but at the present time i dont
think its polished enough for anything more than a beta.

tried breaking off parts, what if i want to just break off a surface and not a
whole part ? Or have say a cube, with the same material on all sides, but
different mapping on one of the sides (something i do frequently).
As to the email, yes i could email them, but for a company who just
releases the 1.0 of their software, then ignores their own msg board, it
doesnt give me a warm fuzzy feeling as to
service.
