I don't know how to use Inventor, I'm use AutoCad 2010.
I have a model in Inventor 2012. I want to bring that to AutoCad. I exported it as a DWG file.
Now when I'm in AutoCad it isn't treating the object as a solid, or even a 2d drawing. I can see it in 3D, but that's it. I can not edit it as a 3D object (no subtract, union ect). Nor can I extrude it.
When I explode it, and break it appart, it looks like a hollow shape with just faces.
Any suggestions?

Attach the original Inventor ipt file here so that others can take a look.
What does List say when you first open the exported dwg in AutoCAD?
I have tried to copy this with object created by me as well, it doesn't work.
Inventor isn't creating or isn't exporting the solid object. It is exporting the face of the object.
Linking an .ipt file and it's exported .DWG file.
If you open the .DWG file in Autocad, just explode it, and delete one of the teeth faces, you will understand what i'm saying.
Hmmm, works fine here.
Did you change the shademode in AutoCAD? (otherwise you are viewing the wireframe).
Can you attach dwg file here with second solid that you are trying to subtract or union to the gear (worked fine for me, but you didn't include any geometry to subract or union - what works for me doesn't explain what doesn't work for you).
Your file worked fine for me - but exaclty how are you "exporting"?
Don't simply right click on a face and export as that will only export the selected face.
You should be going to Save>Save Copy As type AutoCAD *.dwg (then you might also click Options in the resulting dialog box and make sure it is set on Solids).
