I want to pattern some rollers against a side frame. So I have the feature selected, the spacing, and I clicked on 'curve length' so it will adjust when I change the overall length of the frame. However, it will also change the spacing of the feature as well.
Do I need to develop a parameter formula, that will go the distance of the length of the frame, while maintaining the same spacing in between rollers, rather than spacing them out?

Attached is an example of a pattern that holds the spacing and adjusts the count when the length is changed. There are two parameter formulas employed to make the magic happen. This example is included in the Mastering Inventor book along with a couple of other variations, so I had it handy. But I understand you're wanting to do this in an assembly file. I think this should give you an idea of how to do the same in an assembly though.

One other thing, is there a way to copy over those formulas from Part to Part? I tried cut and paste, but it didn't work. So I just entered them manually, but these are formulas which I will be using again quite frequently.
Curtis, could you explain what the various elements of the formula actually mean and perhaps give some idea of when they should be used.
isolate(ceil(Adjust_Len / Spacing);ul;mm)
Some of the elements are fairly obvious but the rest don't have any meaning to me.
Also, is there a resource that covers the use of such formulas?

Most likely the copy paste failed bacause the parameter names used in the forumulas weren't in the part yet. Meaning that if you pasted in isolate(Length - End_Offset;ul;mm) but there is no parameter named End_Offset in the part, Inventor will reject it.
I sometime just use MS Word as a clipboard to edit the parameter names in first and then paste them into the new part.
