Open IV9 Template with IV10 SP1

Is there a way to open an IV9 .idw template with IV10 SP1 with out the Inventro crashing? Or am I the only one with this problem?

I recently installed IV10 and tried to open a new .idw using my template created in IV9. A message popped up telling me that I needed to open the template and save it as an IV10 .idw before I could use it. So I attempted to open the file directly and IV 10 crashed. Next, I checked for service packs and saw SP1 was available, loaded it, and still have the same issue.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Another bit of info. I can't open any .idw files from other projects that were saved in previous releases of IV.

What video driver are you using. Make sure it is up to the current
recommendations for your card.

I am using W2K OS with an ATI FireGL2 AGP card and driver 5.12.2195.2088

This driver is listed on the Auotdesk website as tested on W2K OS and R9.0

For R10.0, they have a newer driver listed but it is for XP OS.

Still can't open my .idw files with IV10 that were created with my IV9 template. I installed IV10 onto a newer system with XP, certified graphics card, and current graphics drivers with the same issue. I am able to copy and paste my symbols and blocks to create a new template for IV10. That will open, but how will access my IV9 .idw files if the parts and assemblies are migrated into IV10?

I get that nice Inventor Error Report window to describe the problem when IV crashesand send it, but I assume that I will not get any feedback from it to remedy the problem.

I appreciate any additional advice or suggestions.

Are you trying to open the idw template from a project that will allow you to save it?

IV10 will not allow you to start a new IV10 idw from a IV9 idw template. They must be migrated first.
