Object Visibility

I have turned the visibility off on a part in a subassembly. This sub is
used in several places throughout the main assembly. When I open the main
assembly, the part is still visible. Why is this part still visible in the
main assembly, even though it is not visible in the subassembly file?

Sub-assemblies come in the main assembly with the system.all visible design view
by default. You have to create a new design view and place it using that view
(under options).

Once you create a new design view. Right click on the view in the .idw and
click apply design view. Then pick your new design view. This will keep all
your dimensions and extra info associated with the view.
Hope it helps.

I created a design view in the sub that had the parts turned off. Where is
"Options"??

When I go to the assembly and edit another occurence of the sub, design view
is grayed out. Attached here is a picture of what I have. I would like to
have the bars not shown, like the sub on the right. I have several of these
subs in this assembly. Only the one on the right is shown correctly.

How do I get the other subs to be displayed properly?

Thanks
Kirk

RMB on the incorrectly displayed sub and hit Apply Design View. You should be
prompted to pick one of the views.(I was explaining how to do it at first
placement)

BTW, when you are first placing a sub into higher assembly, you can pick design
view by first, highlighting the ass'y in Place Component" dialog, then hitting
Options. (Options is grayed out until you pick ass'y) See attached for pic.

Sorry, forgot to attach pic. BTW, I should have said Import Design View, not
"Apply"

Thanks Dave, using the "Import Design Views" worked great. I could have
swore that I had made changes to the visibility of parts in a sub before and
not had to do this. Must have been something else...
