New in inventor sheet metal and try to create flate pattern of a pipe

Hi to alll,

I am very new to inventor sheet metal.....i try to create a flate pattern of a attached file (pipe with contour arrangement).

Please help me with step by step procedure.

My purpose is to create a template for different sizes of pipe contour.

For attached file i try to create 2" pipe contor going through 6 in pipe. i am attaching standart part file for your reference.

I am using inventor 2013. I gone through some ideas from the Discussion Groups, but i am not able to do it.

Thanks,

ANKIT

Hi ANKIT,

Heres another method of achiving what you asked.

I changed the extrude to a Contour Flange and set Sheet Metal Defaults to your thickness.

cheers

If you set the flat pattern to wireframe view in your solution you will see that the edge of the cut is not perpendicular to the flat.

If the cut is made after folding the part this will be correct.

Ya you are correct Mather,

It seems to be two edges at high valleys....but i tried to make a cut after folding but is not working. May be i am not able to get you.

Anyways, my worker cut the dotted edge (means took maximum distance between highest and lowest valley) and it came out very good.

One more thing is i set the compression factor as 1.

Thanks for interest,
