We have a couple parts that are linked to a jpg file, through Inventor studio. They were set as a reflection image, from what I can tell. However they are now perminantly linked to the part and anything we copy from it. I eliminated the reflection from Inventor studio, but Vault still thinks the link is there. If we delete the jpg files it causes unresolved references and as we all know Inventor will then refuse to work until they are resolved.
Does anyone know a way to get rid of this link? We can make a new jpg, and resolve it, but not delete it.
thanks,

Hi kprom,
Have you tried using the Links command to delete the OLE links, then saving the model file?
Tools tab => Options Panel => Links command.
Hope this helps...
Best regards, -Hugh
<ps: are you sure you attached the right image?>
Thanks, I did see jpg in the links tool, but even after "breaking" it, it still shows up in Vault as a used in the latest version.
Hi kprom,
Did you save the model file as well (after deleting the JPG link)?
This should permanently sever the OLE link, and Vault should no longer be asking for the JPG when you check the newly saved version back-in.
Thanks, -Hugh
[Edit: My apologies if you've already done this, and I sound like a broken record]
Hopefully someone with more Inventor <=> Vault expertise and experience can chime in here.
If not, you might try posting this question in the Vault forum here: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Vault/bd-p/101
I could be mistaken, but it seems to me Inventor is behaving correctly.
Warm regards, -Hugh
For whatever reason the break link thing now works, but you have to do it right. If I simply check out the file and break the link then check in, the link is preserved. You have to manually refresh the vault tab IN INVENTOR, or close and repoen the file then check it in.
Thanks for the help.
Hi kprom,
I couldn't get to sleep last night thinking about this
I was wondering if you were using the Vault browser in Inventor to do the checkins, as your screen capture looked like Vault explorer.
You are correct sometimes you have to press the 'refresh Vault' button in the browser in order to force the synchronization.
We appreciate the follow-up and that you found the solution!
Best regards, -Hugh
