Just wondering if there is a command or simple procedure to actively view a section plane in an assembly or part. I know there are the static methods of using slice graphics and section view however I'm looking to create a live section where I am able to constantly move the plane through the model thus altering the live section as it appears on screen, similar to the way a model can be viewed in Tekla with the cut section command. Any tips appreciated.
This functionality is available starting from Inventor 2011 + Subscription Advantage Pack, and, of course, Inventor 2012.
You can find more information in the post below.

I hope it can help.
Kind regards,

Inventor release please?
In Inventor 2011 (with Subscription Advantage Pack installed ) or in Inventor 2012 with the Section View (assembly environment) command you can drag the plane along a axis.
Dynamic sectioning of assemblies: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/limage?siteID=123112&imageID=15765529&id=15714201
Note if you already had Inventor 2012 you don't have to install the Advantage Pack because this functionality already comes in 2012 by default.
Hope Help
The easiest and most dynamic way to do this is to use one of the origin planes or a work plane for a half section, then temporarily suppress a constraint and drag your model back and forth through the section plane. This is real-time sectioning.
Could you give me a step by step guide how to do this please ?
