Library Woes

I recently installed INV7, up from 5.3 and am having difficulty dealing with the library. ie. creating new parts & assy then putting them into the library. if an assy is created outside the library, then save as to the library, then move parts for the assy to lib, then delete parts outside of library. open assy in lib, tell it where the parts are located, then save(can't do that). not to take up too much time, where can I find info on this

You have to set up a special project where the library location is a
workgroup or local path then use that project for maintaining parts in
your library. Inventor does not allow parts to be edited if they re in
library paths.

Are you talking about the Library paths to files in the Project file ?

or

The Library parts found underneath MODEL in the title bar of the browser of an
assembly ?

Inv7 won't let you alter files that are in the 'library path' in the project
file.
Either move the file to a different location using WinExplorer, modify and
return
or
Creat a new project file with the files that are under the library path moved to
Local Files path. Then swap between project files.
