Length of an ipt

Hi,

I have a drawing where it is difficult to get length, wight, or cut out of an ipt.

Or how do you get it straight up for a presentation drawing?

(you can see the image in test1.bmp (our see the part in test1.ipt

Thanks!

Is this better?

I used the RMB "look at" command on your custom work plane, then RMB on the view cube and used the "set current view as front" command.

Hi Mrattray,

Sorry but I can't open the part you sent..

I am using Inventor 2011...

And what do you mean by RMB "look at" command...?

Thanks! 🙂

RMB = Right Mouse Button

If you right click on your custom work plane there is a command called "look at". Click that and your view will align to the work plane. If you then right click on the view cube in the corner of your screen there is a option to "set current view as front".

Thanks... this is better.

But, how can I get the lenght of the part, to be vertical?

Thanks! 🙂

1) Create a work axis along the length of the part by selecting the work axis tool and then selecting the diameter of the part.

2) Create a work plane by selecting the work plane tool and then selecting the axis from step 1 and the projected edge visible in the part.

3) Use the look at and the set curent view as front commands on the new work plane.
