Just trying to save - is that so wrong!

I have an assembly (using the semi-isolated project), the assembly has
library parts. I add a library part to the assembly, then save my assembly
file. More times then not I will have an iPart or purchased part that needs
to update with the save, but alas its a library part and therefore read only
and won't update. So to make a long story short every time I save Inventor
wants to update a library part and can't. What do I do???

Frustrated in Wisconsin 😞

In the dialog box on Library (under the save column), click and it will
change to save, this will make IV happy.

I think iparts let you change the option in the save dependencies dialog box to yes the first time. I'm not positive but try it.

You will see this if you edited the factory and then open an assembly that
has a child that is affected. As Rich stated change it to Yes and away you
go..
