Joints do not turn anymore after being saved as an assembly

Hello. I created an assembly, called A, which consists of two rotational joints. I saved it into a file called file_a. Then, I created a new assembly and placed file_a in it. However, the two rotational joints cannot be rotated by dragging the mouse anymore. Anybody knows how to resolve this issue? How come the joints cannot rotate anymore? Thanks.

Did you set the sub-assembly to Flexible?
If you right click is there an option to Retain DOF?
Have you read the Wasim Younis book?
Can you attach the assembly here?

Hi JDMather,

After I set it to flexible, it is working. Thanks.

How come the flexible option does not always appear? I could not find it yesterday nor an hour ago. Suddenly, that option appeared out of the blue.

Its never there when you aren't looking for it Smiley Very Happy

I have noticed that there is a cursor focus area issue/bug with Inventor 2012 SP1. Sometimes you need to mouse click on what you want to get the correct menus to come up.
