Is it possible to "detach" an iPart from its "source" file?

If I have a table or custom iPart and create an instance of it inside an assembly, is it possible to create an independent .ipt file which is not linked to its source file?

hi,

open the i-part, and save to the new file name you need, then set the newly saved i-part to the variant you require, then delete the i-part table.

You then get the version specified and no link to the original factory

cheers,

Misha

Yes, I have done this.  I recommend that you call up the factory ipart file, set it to the member you want to save out.

Then do the file>save as copy.

Call up the newly saved file and remove all of the other members that you don't need.

When you go to delete the last member it will prompt you saying if you delete that member the table will be removed.

Just click ok to proceed.
