Is Limit mates possible

Hi,

I need to know if there is a way of constraining an angle with minimum and maximum between 2 parts.

Example :

1. Say, I have a Rectangular Box and a lid. The lid has an axis mate with the box and can now rotate about this axis.

I want to provide an angular mate so that the door can be flushed to box (0 deg) and open (90 deg)

2. I have seen several inventor examples demonstrating Position reps for a product like a cylinder and piston's open & closed positions.

I want to know if we can set a min and max so that we can have the piston positioned any where between these 2 limitis.

Thx

You can RMB - Drive Constraint the angle between upper and lower limit.
Or you could set up a Contact Set (if natural limits don't exist you might have to create a hidden dummy component). If you can't figure out either solution zip and attach what you have so far.

Kudos Dennis. thanks for sharing this. I dont understand why Autodesk should object this kind of application.

I understand the benefit of Drive constraint. The disadvantage, in my opinion, is that I need to return to the drive constrain dialog always. I wanted to perdom by just point and drag.

Drew, the originator of this tip felt that this functionality
might be removed in the future. I don't see that happening any time
soon.

Just go into your constraint dialog box, click the arrow for "more", and set a minimum and maximum value for any constraint in the boxes provided.

This functionality was added to Inventor since the initial post several years ago.
