Hello,
the pulley diameters (dimensions) are based on ANSI/RMA standard.
Manufacturers however provides pulleys with non-standard sizes as well.
Basically you have two options (I suspect you work with Inventor R11 or
R2008):
1) Simple (recommended) : customize pulley. Open pulley properties panel
and choose "Custom size" then select desired pulley dimensions from your
pulley manufacturer catalogue.
2) More advanced: Modify data in "Design Data" folder. You may define
new pulley that is manufacturer specific. All grooved pulleys are defined in
XML files. The procedure is not as simple as customizing pulley. If you wish
use (non standard) pulleys quite often, I may send a brief description of
how to modify the pulley data.
Files that defines pulleys are located in:
"<>\Design Data\Design
Accelerator\Tables\VBelts\Grooves\*.xml"

Can anyone tell me why Inventor wont generate a B size v-belt pulley via the
design assistant smaller than a 5.4 pitch diameter? You can buy smaller but
the pull down doesnt show anything smaller. Am I supposed to just create a
custom pulley?>
