Inventor is Not Responding when importing .dwg from AutoCAD to Inventor Skecth.

Hi Everyone,

Need advice here about the import of DWG.

Currently we are trying to import a DWG file created from pdf and embross it to solid body created beforehand.

When paste a dwg into Inventor sketch with paste checked option are: AutoCAD Block to Inventor Block and Constraint End Point; Inventor is not responding and freezing. If uncheck all the constraint and block conversion, sketch can be paste into Inventor sketch but cannot resolve the constraint completely, error message popped up saying that the imported sketch are not close loop.

I've Installed the service pack 2 with latest updated, but the imported object is still facing the problem of open loop and constraint trouble towards “Emboss” feature.

Please kindly help to know the proper way of importing from dwg to inventor sketch?

Best Regards,

Alfian

I’m using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 64-Bit edition.

Windows 7 Professional.

Hi! Does the DWG file you are trying to import contain a lot of lines and curves? Could you try importing just one layer and see if it works?

Thanks!

I was able to open or place in a sketch in r2015.

I do not have 2013 to check.

The first thing I did was move the geometry to the origin in AutoCAD as it was a long way from the origin.

Then when placing in Inventor sketch I unchecked two of the unneeded layers, layer 0 and defpoints.

Set to Constrain Endpoints only.
