Inventor Pro - Piping standards

Any possibility of Autodesk adding the ASME B31.1 piping standard to the Pipe & Tube module? Even the possibility of a simplier way to customize the database would be good. Our product is basically large aluminum tube, pressurized, with a type of plate flange welded on for bolt up connections, elbows are mitered and welded. None of the provided standards come close. and there didn't seem to be a way to add your own without knowing the entry coding in the Access tables.

I was allowed a demo from our dealer to see if it would be worth the upgrade pricing to do our type of piping. I played around with most of the functions and peeked into the underpinnings but I would rather keep the opinion of the outcome to myself until I get more info though.

Well, I doubt you will find much help with IV Pro itself, much less knowing what
AD is going to do with it or whether you can customize it. It JUST came out. I
don't even think it's shipping yet. If you have a demo, you are ahead of most of
us. Also, I think most of us will not be buying Pro anyway. We are pretty
put-out with Adesk considering we think the new features in Pros should have
come with the subscription.

I echo your sentiments, I feel as long as I have to pay a subscription rate that I think is high to start with, I should get these as add-ons. The added functionality is not what I would consider worthy of an upgrade to something called "Pro". I also can't see using Pipe & Tube with PC board design. Does anybody do both regularly? It's also an issue that very little information is available from Autodesk as to what the modules are capable of. Like listing which pipe standards are included. If anybody has used the Pro-E piping module and CADPipe for AutoCAD it is a cross between the two. The routing and port usage of running the tubing is similiar to Pro-E and the use of the piping standards is close to CadPipe.

There is a wizard built into the piping module that allows you to create
your own standard parts, and easily specify attachment points, pipe
insertion lengths, thread depths etc.. For instance, you can also specify
the number of attachment points (i.e 2 for an elbow, 3 for a tee)

It works quite well and it allows you to build your own parts into the
library so that they can be used with the piping module.

Hope this is of use

Could be. Where is it located? Alas for a good help file!

What I think is "hilarious" is how Ade$k bashes the "other" guys..."Yeah but
if you want to do anything with their software you must purchase additional
modules"..

rut-ro, did I miss something? I bet I have heard that a thousand times...
