For those of you that know Solidworks, they had a feature that could create features from dumb solids called featureworks. Does Inventor have anything similar?

Yes, but it's an add-in, so you'll have to download and install it first.

Yeah, I really wish this was finally part of basic Inventor by now.
Labs has had this feature for a few realeses now and I use it all the time when dealing with vendor files.
Thanks. I will try this when I get back to work.
We are using profressional so I am miffed that this ins't included as well.
Have you used it and if so what are your thoughts?
Jim,
Me too!!!
I used it periodically when I was using Solidworks. It was good for simple machined type parts.
Forget it on the ergonomic swept type parts.
My thoughts are that I've never needed it badly enough to be worth the trouble of trying to get IT to install it for me . . .
Have you used it and if so what are your thoughts?
Identical to FeatureWorks.
I never use Automatic in Inventor or SolidWorks.
Use in manual mode and recognize only those features that will actually be edited.
You can multiple select then right click to combine circular or rectangular patterns.
Thanks JD.
My question now is I have downloaded it and when I go to the addins list I am not seeing it in the list.
How do I get it into my Inventor session?
I ahve already closed out of inventor and restarted that thinking that would work...Not!!!
I guess no one likes Fusion?
You must install with anti-virus and UAC turned off.
I had the same problem on of my machines till I turned UAC off.

Don't need Fusion for this.
Ok, does that mean I have to uninstall what I currently have loaded then do as you suggested?
Maybe it is a Friday thing, but what is UAC?
This does not look like it deals with sketches, which is what we are looking to do.

More information is needed.
It does build sketches for recongnized features - just like SolidWorks.
Attach your file here.
Ops - I guess you were referring to Fusion rather than Inventor feature recognition.
JD, I was responding to the fusion statement on how it didn't look like it produced sketches (in fusion)
not Inventor.
I am assuming I have to uninstall what I have and reinstall like you suggested with the antivirus and UAC turned off.
By the way, what does UAC stand for?
Yes, I just tested this out Fusion does not give you sketches but the plug-in for Inventor does. I did not know this until today. Cool plug-in.
Thanks Ray.
I am going to try this at home where I feel comforatble shutting off the anti and the UAC (thanks for the explaination).
Here I have to call IT to feel safe about doing so.
Yes, we have some files that it is important to have the sketches for. Thus the reason Fusion wont work.
Finally got it to work.
Thank you everyone for your help.
JD, you were right. It does work like Featureworks.

There are a few hidden things in there.
Right Mouse button sometimes gives you these hidden options.
