Inventor Base View to Autocad

I have plotted a base view of a part onto a sheet of my idw file.

I would like to take the lines generated from the part's wireframe and edit them in autocad.

I know that you can export parts to autocad from inventor, However, this exports the entire 3d part.

If i export the entire 3d part, There are many other lines present that would be otherwise invisable viewing it orthographically.

How can i simply take a base view from an idw and edit it in autocad?

Just export the IDW drawing to Autocad and select the correct version in the options.

You should also be able to create your base view as a DWG and this will allow for editing in Autodesk Autocad.

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

Depending on what you are doing - you might not even need an Inventor drawing.

You can right click on a planar face of a 3D object and select Export to *.dxf or *.dwg  to get the 2D.

Or - use DWG instead of IDW, then you can open the inventor drawing in AutoCAD and insert the view as a block.

Heres how it's done: http://cadclues.blogspot.co.uk/2011/05/how-to-extract-2d-autocad-geometry-from.html?m=1
