Inventor 8 newsgroup survey

Some of you have asked, "When will the Inventor 8 newsgroup start?"

Good question. Before I answer I would like to collect some opinions from
the group. It has been over a year now since the Inventor newsgroup was
split based on product release (R6, R7.).

I am interested in you answers to the following questions.

1.. Do you like separate product release newsgroups?
2.. Do you think that a current group (R8) and a legacy group (<8) would
be a positive change? This would mean that we would go to:
a.. Autodesk.Inventor.8
b.. Autodesk.Inventor.legacy
Thanks for your support! Feel free to reply here.

I agree with Gary, since IV6 and IV7 are very similar.

I would also like to add the Pro version so that we know who the people are
that were scammed by A-Desk.

Current/Previous/Legacy. While 6 and 7 were nearly identical, no one
knows how similar future releases might be. 7 and 8 have good separation.

8, 6+7, Legacy is my vote... We also need to remind people (once again) when posting subject titles to use something that is descriptive of the issue at hand. For instance "Troubles" or "How about this one..." absolutely do not serve any use when searching for solutions to issues. This is why we end up having the same issue posted under 10 different threads.

Hear, hear.....about someone addressed this
issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Lets get back to descriptions that mean
something!

I also agree with the "
face="Times New Roman" size=3>8, 6+7, Legacy is my vote" , for what it
is worth.

Yes. Separate newsgroup for 8 please. I think it would be good to keep 7 separate until 9 is released.

I'm not sure how older groups are dealt with but how about this...

autodesk.inventor.current_release
autodesk.inventor.legacy
autodesk.inventor.pro_add-ons
autodesk.inventor.customer-files
autodesk.inventor.customization

Just move all the current release posts over to legacy every time a new
release ships.

Don't laugh, it made since at the time.

I'm fine with "current version + legacy" or "current version + previous
version + legacy."

Kevin,

I would like to see the latest release as a separate NG and at least 1 "old"
release and then a legacy group for all others.

Jim
