Inventor 8 newsgroup survey

Some of you have asked, "When will the Inventor 8 newsgroup start?"

Good question. Before I answer I would like to collect some opinions from
the group. It has been over a year now since the Inventor newsgroup was
split based on product release (R6, R7.).

I am interested in you answers to the following questions.

1.. Do you like separate product release newsgroups?
2.. Do you think that a current group (R8) and a legacy group (<8) would
be a positive change? This would mean that we would go to:
a.. Autodesk.Inventor.8
b.. Autodesk.Inventor.legacy
Thanks for your support! Feel free to reply here.

Kevin:

1/ Yes, I like the separate product release groups.
2/ I'd keep at least one active group between the current release and
legacy, IOW R8, R7 and legacy. I'm sure Kent and Anne, who see the
volume on the various groups could guide us on that.

As far as I am concerned, a NG on the current release and a legacy NG would
be acceptable.

I think 2 would be sufficient. Especially since v6 & 7 are nearly identical.

I think Richards idea is the best solution.

1) INV 8 & INV 8 Pro
2) INV 7 & INV 7 Pro
3) Legacy Inventor

I'm OK with a split. I did like the idea of a R8, R7, and then Legacy.

I would like the following three NGs:

- current Inventor
- legacy Inventor
- Inventor Pro (current and legacy since it's fairly new)

Separate but equal ... as I remember the cliché rhetoric?

Albert's not loading R8 yet, so you better keep R7 for awhile ... Bye
Albert!

I'd agree with Richard

8, 6+7, legacy

Or you could call them IVr8, IVr7 and IV tightwads.

I think Richard has the correct solution. It would be useful to have a seperate discussion forum for IV Pro as long as people could figure out out seperate Pro specific issues with base package issues.

I'd suggest 3 NG's

IV 8
IV7/6
Legacy

Looking at the total posts I have: IV5.3 = 3,700 IV6 = 31,860 IV7=
31,800.....

Why not just start a extra IV8 NG??

Sorting / correcting pro vs non pro posts would be a pain => just make the
NG's based on release

Just my 0.02

I'll go against the grain and vote for one all inclusive Inventor NG.

You must be one of those left coast, bay area, anarchist radicals.

I like the threesome myself, current, previous and legacy.

I'll second that...(especially since I'm one of those skipping subscription
