Inventor 2014 Realistic View not working anymore (bootcamp)

Hello,

I have been designing a school project for the last 2 months using the student version of inventor 2014. The realistic views have been working the whole time before but now it is not working. I click on it, and it just switches back to shaded view. If I click on shadows, or reflections I get the following message.

"One or more visual effects in use are not supported by the current system graphics hardware. We strongly recommend running the Diagnostics check in applications option for detailed information.

Would you like to run hardware Diagnostics now?"

After selecting Yes I get the following,

"The graphics driver is fully certified.

Graphics Hardware Description: OpenGL \ Microsoft Corporation \ GDI Generic

Graphics driver file vga.dll is version 6.1.7600.16385

Using the GDI-Generic driver

The display is using 32-bit color

Click the OK button to place diagnostic information on the clipboard.

I hit OK and everything closes. This is left on my clipboard. (Pasted after my plea for help)

Please help fast, my project is due in 3 days and I need this to function properly again. I have no idea why it stopped working out of no where and it is very frustrating because my team mates need screenshots for our presentation!

Thank you.

This graphics driver is fully certified.

Maybe some more information will help. I'm running through bootcamp and it has been working fine for the past two months or so. I've been looking around for similar errors and haven't seen any.

I didn't change any settings that I know of that may have caused this problem.

Also- it doesn't work for ANY models, or assemblies.

I started playing around with some of the hardware settings now (I read some other posts on the forums, but can't figure it out!)

Any help will be much apprieciated.

Did some more research and it looks as though its got something to do with my graphics card. Quite strange because I didn't change any hardware or anything 😕

Why do you need Realistic view to complete a project?
I prefer to work in Shaded with Edges mode and then go to
Enviroments>Inventor Studio and Render images.

You're correct, and typically when I am doing the design work I use shaded edges because the render time is very low and you can move things around freely. However I was trying to switch it over to get higher resolution pictures to show our professor and put in the presentation. I wanted it to look not just good but really good, you know for brownie points.

It is a team based project and he let us choose which modeling software we would like to use. I actually was trying to highlight inventor's strong/easy rendering capability. Most of the other students are using ProE or Catia, but I used inventor at an engineering firm I interned at a few semesters ago (on their computers). The modeling itself was quite easy because of my familiarity with the software, however this error that I have been getting is new to me. This has kind of nipped me in the butt to say the least, because all the models I was showing him before had realisitic quality and now they do not. Our team had the highest quality models before (mainly due to the lack of the other student's knowledge about their chosen programs) but now its about the same.

I still have yet to resolve the realistic viewing error, and it is quite annoying not being able to use inventor to its fullest capacity so if you have any advice, or information about how to fix the error I'd very much appreciate it.

On a side note I will be testing out your suggestion of going into the environment and rendering them there.

This is an issue with the 2014 rendering kernal.  AD are well aware of it:

Did you figure out a solution for this problem? I am currently facing the same problem, where I need to render animation using 3ds Max Design, and it takes the format and display settings from Inventor but my inventor does not allow me to use realistic models and therefore the Rendering produces an ugly video.. I've tried everything and it still give me the same error message that it is giving you.

Sorry, I never found a solution to this error. Apparently it was a big bug that was never fixed. I literally tried everything including re-installing bootcamp. This did nothing. Once I started to receive the errors they never stopped. I guess they want to run it on PC.
Sorry for the slow response time- just finished up my last final of senior year!

Hope you figure something out

What kinds of graphics cards are you using on the MAC machine? Could you please check from Inventor ->Hardware option to see whether the Performance opton has been enabled? If not, please switch to this mode and apply and see whether any improvement, if it still doesn't work, select Software Graphics together with Performance, then it should work. Let me know whether these works for you. Thanks, -Lisa
