Inserting sketched symbols to a center point

When inserting a sketched symbol, is it possible to snap to the center point of a circle? I have not been able to do it.

Place a sketch on the view. Project the target circle in question, next pick
the centerpoint and change it's style from "reference" to "Connection
point". Exit sketch. Use Symbols command with "leader" unchecked to place
sketched symbol that will stay attached to that point.

PS. After placement, dont drag it off or you'll never get it back on without
re-inserting it!

I've tried this. The problem is not the symbol, but the circle itself. When
inserting, it will not allow a snap to center. This was one of my gripes awhile
back.

After re-re-reading your answer, I now realize this is NOT what I was doing.
However, your solution is not a viable workaround when you are inserting 10
dowel symbols.

Dave

All 10 circular projections and point style edits can be in the same sketch
to quicken things up. I agree its a PITA but it's more viable than a non
centered dowel symbol.

Well, Drew. I've tried your method now and I still can not get the
connection/insert point (I've tried both) of the symbol to connect to the
Connection Point of the sketch. it shows up as I'm placing, but will not snap to
it.
As it is, I will continue to Auto Centerline and snap to that.

I finally got that to work with the connection point mehtod. But I think I am going to stick with the way I was doing it in 5.3. You make the sketch on the view, project the dowel hole circle, draw a line from the center to each four quadrants, then fill two of the quadrants with a hatch pattern. What threw me in R7 was that in order for the circle to project, you have to have "autoproject edges during curve creation" checked in the application options.
