Importing AutoCAD Sketch - Move to origin point fail

Hi all

I am trying to copy/paste some sketch geometry from ACAD to Inventor and move it to the origin point using the following process:

-Copy from ACAD

-Paste into Inventor sketch

-Select all (except projected origin point)

-Move

-Select base point (at this stage, the geometry seems free to move i.e. it follows the cursor)

-Select projected origin point to move to

-Error Dialog "The selected geometry could not be moved.  Check constraint settings for sketch edit tools."

It gives me no option to relax constraints etc.

Any ideas???

Thanks

Grant

-Copy from ACAD

-Chose Paste inside Inventor

 -Right click for more options

-Finish Paste into Inventor sketch

-Select all (except projected origin point)

-Move

-Select base point (at this stage, the geometry seems free to move i.e. it follows the cursor)

-Select projected origin point to move to

-Error Dialog "The selected geometry could not be moved.  Check constraint settings for sketch edit tools."

Check out the extra step 😉

In addition to other suggestions - you might create an Inventor Sketch Block of the geometry for easier control.

I always just move the geometry to 0,0 in AutoCAD first. Create a new sketch in Inventor and then use insert AutoCAD file.

Sometimes you just need a good old reboot.
