Hi There!
I have a problem... When i try to convert a simple file .idw to .dxf, using menu file - save copy with name, I receive an alarm message (this is an italian-english translation):
"program initialization failed conversion 2d"
And the file is not saved and converted! I have the problem with 3 pc. I also tried with other files, but the problem persists...
The great thing is that until two days ago it worked!!
Do you have any solutions?! Thanks!!
Hi,
I have the same problem - it worked perfectly fine until a few days ago.
When saving ''inventor dwg'' or ''inventor idw'' drawing as ''autocad dwg'' or dxf drawing I get an error message: ''Failed to initialize 2d translator.''
When exporting sketch from part file to dwg or dxf i get an error: ''DWG/DXF export error.''
Any ideas how to get it to work?
Thank you.
Hi Jazst,
maybe do you use Avast antivirus? I think that the problem is it... After the last update...
Hi,
yes, I have avast. I uninstalled it now, but the problem persists. You tried uninstalling it? Could the problem be with windows (update)?
I tried to unistall avast one hour ago, but the problem persist, me too... Do you think that the problem is an update of windows? I have win 7, 64bit machine.
Other possible solutions?
I have win 7 64bit also and Inventor 2012.
Anyone else with the same problem?
Autodesk do you have any ideas?
Identical problem.
(this is an italian-english translation):
"program initialization failed conversion 2d"
win 7 64bit also and Inventor 2012, Avast antivirus.
Ok, now we are 3 people with the same problem...
I'm more and more convinced that the problem is Avast. Maybe it has changed some parameters or configurations of Inventor (my version is 2011). Also uninstalling Avast, the situation doesn't change...
Now, i try to unistall and reinstall Autocad Inventor.
4 people...
I tried to do a clean uninstall and now my optical drive dosen't seem to work either.
I need to get drawings through to the laser cutters tomorrow. Very bad timing.
Sorry, Can't seem to edit my previous post.
Fixed with the following:
Pulled out internet connection.
Ran system restore to the beginning of the month.
Uninstalled Avast (no internet so it couldn't update 🙂
Opened Inventor Save copy as - .Dxf, - Autocad.Dwg straight away.
Now to catch up my work from the last 2 days..
not saying this is related, but you might check the Add-In manager to make sure its loaded.
I have that problem with my drawing tools, but at least I can force them to open as a toolbar, but checked, and can't do hat with translators. Sounds like Avast might of changed a registry entry and the translators may not be found now. You might try just reinstalling or repairing Inventor, see if that solves it before you do a complete system overhaul. Just make sure any antivirus is turned off when you do. Otherwise it's beyond me, sorry.
I've just done a IDW ~ DXF save as one one of my drawings no problems at all the normal dialog box popped up. Conversion went as normal. I do, however, have all translators load behavior set to automatic/on demand. In addition I DO NOT have Autocad installed so that rules out Acad being needed.
I would suggest that you try a repair install of inventor and see if this fixes the problem

Hi,
I waited a while to see if anyone has been able to solve the problem without system restore.
Unfortunatelly I waited too long and my system restore no longer restores my setting to when the translation worked.
I desperatelly need the translation now, please advice me what to do..
Thany you for your help.
Same problem here. Also on a system with Avast virussoftware.
Wndows system restore is not an option here. I was thinking, doesn't the Inventor setup repair do the trick?
Has anyone tried?
