IV10 SP2 wiped out TS1052403

Since installing SP2 for IV 10, I have noticed that TS1052403 which enabled
legacy type Bill of materials has been lost. Why? Has SP2 got another way of
switching this feature?

Derek,
Are you sure you don't have that functionality?
I believe TS1052403 is a part of SP2 now, so even you don't see it
in the list of Hot Fixes, you should be able to use it from SP2 build.

Hi Derek,

Is your question below as a result of no hotfixes being listed after SP2 is
installed or are you finding that legacy type bill of materials is not
working after applying SP2?

Yes, that is correct,
I have applied SP2 to 2 workstations, and both have lost the functionality
that was provided with the TS1052403 hotfix.

Derek,
I haven't been able to reproduce this issue on my machine so far.
BTW, would you be more specific about "lost the functionality"?
We would like to know the steps to reproduce the issue.

Ok,
After installing the above hotfix, I had 4 options in my BOM view, Legacy
Parts only, Legacy Structured, Parts only and structured. As I'm sure you
are aware......
After installing SP2, I no longer have the option for Legacy parts only or
Legacy structured, just the original 2 options as per IV10 SP0, no hotfix.
Same thing at home and at work.

And this is for files you are migrating that still have
the legacy data in them, or are they native IV10 files?
I don't think the legacy option would be available if
the files are native v10.

Its the legacy behaviour that you would be selecting... The options were
available with IV10 data

Clipped from the 'read me'

Solution:
Legacy Parts Lists already provide manual control of merging. We are
extending the list of choices to include legacy types when creating a parts
list. This allows you to choose the desired behavior. BOM quantity
overrides, item promotion from BOM attribute changes, and new unit QTY
reporting apply to both legacy parts lists and R10 parts lists.<

Sami,
When you say you haven't been able to reproduce the issue, did you apply
TS1052403 to an SP1 version of IV10 and then apply SP2 to see the effect?

Derek,
I still couldn't reproduce the issue here.
What I just re-did were:
1) Install Inventor R10 (no legacy options in a new blank drawing)
2) Install SP1 (still no legacy options in a new blank drawing)
3) Install HotFix 1052403 (two legacy options are added)
4) Install SP2 (two options are still there) --- took attached screen cap.

Sami,
What you did is exactly what I did, but TS1052403 wasn't the only hotfix
installed if that makes any difference.
I had applied all post SP2 hotfixes up to that time.
I don't know why it has happened, but it surely has.
BTW, I didn't see your screen capture...
I can't apply the hotfix now because it warns me that I have the incorrect
Inventor version for it.
As I said before, the exact same thing has happened on my work machine, so
surely I can't be the only person experiencing this.

Derek,
SP2 does includes TS1052403, so it shouldn't be applied
on SP2 build.

Would you try following quick check and send us what you get?
1) Launch Inventor (click [Cancel] to dismiss the start-up dialog if it's
shown)
2) Shift + Ctrl + [New] icon on the standard toolbar then select
"Drawing" > [OK]
3) Switch to "Drawing Annotation Panel" then click [Parts List]
4) Drop down BOM view in BOM Settings on Parts List dialog
Which items are shown in this list?

Sami,
I fear I may have been wasting your time.
Did you compare my screen cature with yours? Mine is of the BOM, yours a
parts list dialogue box. After reading the 3 access points of the TS1052403
readme, it looks as though it was never acessible through the BOM. I thought
I could export a parts list in legacy format from the BOM, but it looks as
though i'm wrong.
(seriously, but shouldn't I be able to?) The drop down dialogues are the
same!
Apologies.... I think I need Yippee Pro

Derek,

The readme should have been clearer, TS1052403 tweaks
Parts List creation but assembly BOM won't be changed.

BTW, we are considering enhancing BOM functionality
in the future release to address this issue.
It would be great if you can share your thought / experience
about parts merge in BOM / Parts List.

I think the BOM as introduced with IV10 is just too crazy. I know exactly
what its doing, but it still catches me out. Updating the table as the
editing is being carried out is what really puts me off it... exiting the
current cell can lead to the table re-sorting, leaving me not knowing where
I was in the editing process. I know... change sorting to another column....
but it still catches me out . This is one case where an 'update now' or a
'hold updates' button would not be a step backwards. Dynamic updates are
officially a pain.
The next PITA is merging of parts/assys if cell data is the same. I agree
its a good idea to have unique names/numbers and 99.9% of my parts satisfy
this, but when I get a duplicate, there are no tools to help to ament the
problem. In fact the problem is compounded by this functionality. It would
be useful if it would show the duplicates in another window or with red text
or something, so the duplicate error ould be amended quickly and then the
red text or 2nd window would go away.
I hope that was read as constructive criticism, and not just criticism.

Best regards
Derek

Re-number the BOM immediately after re-ordering, then when you edit cells, they stay in the same place
