IV crashes when trying to update Assy

I have a press assy. Everything was constrained properly. I needed to
shorten the press length wise. With the assy open, I made the necessary
changes to the parts in their own files. (I'm human so I might have missed
something.) After all of the changes were made, to the best of my knowledge,
I am unable to update the assy, either locally or globally. Usually if there
are conflicting constraints, like there would be if I missed something, IV
tells you that you have to fix or delete the bad constraints. IV is not
doing this. It just crashes:(

Is there anything that I might be able to do to fix this problem, short of
rebuilding the assy? Anything like MDT's Audit or Recover commands?

Thank you in advance!!

Can you open the assembly at the moment?
If yes does it require updating then it crashes?
Open the part files and rebuild them.
Then reopen the assembly and update?
If it still crashes open an OldVersion of the assy and update that?

I ended up moving the parts that I had changed to a different folder so they
would not load. I then was able to open and update the file. Then I played
with putting back in files one at a time until I found the file that was
causeing the problem. With out this File in there I updated the assy and
deleted all the redundant constraints and all the constraints for the
unloaded part. I then was able to bring in the problem part and update the
assy.
