ISO naming meaning...

Hi All,

Ive been adding fasteners of all types using bolted connection and the content centre fro ages, and haven't really taken any notice of the names and assumed they are the standard names in the ISO standard.

i had a query from one of our engineers regarding a washer.

The washer in question: ISO 7091 - ST - 18 - 100 HV

We understand this much,

ISO - the standard the washer comes from

7091 - the washer type from that standard

ST - material is STeel

18 - the hole size

100 HV - Don't know?

Can anyone help and shed some light on this please.

Thanks in advance.

If you want to know about a standard.. you buy/read it.

http://www.iso.org/iso/iso_catalogue/catalogue_tc/catalogue_detail.htm?csnumber=13672

But HV = hardness value

HV = HARDNESS VICKERS in this case 100 wich is quite soft.

"But HV = hardness value"

On waht scale ????

BRINELL, VICKERS, ROCKWELL C or ROCKWELL B

100 Rockwell B =24 Rockwell C or 246 Vickers or 245 Brinell (taken directly from ZEUS Precision data charts & tables for Drawing Office toolroom & Workshop Metric revision)

So just to say HV = hardness value without knowing what test method was used to establish that value is superfluous or worthless information
