IDW to DWG

We have a system set up at our facility for converting idw to dwg and creating a real nice manual for our machines in pdf format, Adobe accepts dwg real good with small files. With v7 the conversion skews all the attribute text in the title block down and to the left. It never fails when Autodesk issues a new version that they take away something really usfull and replace it with 5 things I'll never use. Does anyone have a solution for this skewing.

Why not go straight from IDW to PDF?

wgat about if the customer requires the AutoCAD

files.

That's a different issue (and yes it is an
issue) - cmcal's related to creating PDF's for use in a manual for which
the trip through DWG is not needed.

The idw 2 dwg translation fails in some ways, whereof the text and dimension
failures seem to be the worst. Text, Attributes and dimension text are
defined with formatting instructions like \H3.5000; which causes Acad to use
a fixed text height for this entity (apart from color and font) - so you can
use any scalefactor with no visible change. Apart from that there is a fixed
width scaling as well, which has a bug in the German version, because IV 6
(I haven't yet checked with V7) writes \W1,00 instead of \W1.00 which Acad
interprets in a different way.

If you, someone in your group, or your VAR is literate in Autolisp then
these text formatting issues can be fixed in the dwg environment.... not
that I condone the poor dwg out, I only have learned to live with it.

But still, if your need is pdf for your manuals then go straight from idw to
pdf. I don't understand why poor dwg would have an influence on your
ability to create pdf.
